National Society of Daughters of Founders and Patriots of America, Inc.
Connecticut Chapter

Membership Eligibility

Eligibility in the Society requires an unbroken paternal line of either the applicant's father or mother, going back to a FOUNDER who arrived in one of the Colonies between May 13, 1607 and May 13, 1687, and in this unbroken line, an intermediate PATRIOT ancestor who, by personal service in a civil or military capacity or by other acts proving his unfailing loyalty, assisted in establishing American independence during the Revolutionary Period, 1775 to 1784.

You may apply if you are a woman who is 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, and can prove her lineal descent through a Revolutionary Patriot and Founder as described in membership eligibility.

The application form for membership can easily be completed on the computer and must also include documentation of lineal descent and service.

The application once completed will go to the Chapter Registrar who will determine if any additional information or changes are needed.   It is submitted to a Certified Genealogist who verifies that lineage and service requirements have been met.  The application then goes into a pending status until the NSDFPA Executive Board next votes, which is usually done monthly.

The time in which an application is approved for membership can be as short as one to two  months, but could take as much as three to four months depending on the month in which it is submitted and if additional information is requested.

Prospective members and applicants are welcome to attend chapter meetings.  Please contact us if you would like to receive information about our next meeting.

If you have any questions, or would like to apply for membership, please complete the Request for Information contact form.

NOTE:  If you are a member of  The Daughters of the American Revolution, you may be able to list the DAR Patriot on your DFPA application if you can prove the lineal descent back to the Founder as described in the membership requirements.

Please tell us of your DAR membership and Patriot information when you contact us.

Our Members ...say that they love learning about American history, some have been members of DFPA at the same time as their Mother, Sister, Aunt or Daughter, say they joined DFPA to honor their ancestors, think it's important that our youth learn about American history, want their family records to be preserved for future generations, and enjoy researching genealogy.
